A Community Organisation Dedicated to Building Youth Life Skills

The Australian Maritime Cadets is a youth organization formed to provide a structured, safe maritime based environment in which young people are inspired to seek and reach their potential.
Units are based at the South West Water Based Activities Centre Inc. where the Mission of this organisation is dedicated to building life skills and career paths for youth, through training utilising the maritime context.

The Turkey Point Discover Sailing Club (TPDSC) facilitates maritime training at the South West Water Based Activity Centre Inc. (SWWBAC) for adult staff, volunteer instructors, parents, carers and supporters of the youth training programs based on the maritime environment.

Memberships

Full Member: Open to adults.  An annual fee of $180.00 (July 01 2018 to June 30 2019) is payable in advance.  This fee is waived for Parents and Carers of current and financial cadets.

Membership enables you to:

  • Participate in subsidised training, for example: Australia Sailing and Powerboat, W.A. Recreational Skippers Ticket, basic outboard, small diesel and first aid courses.
  • Use designated vessels such as dinghy, catamaran and powerboat when not needed by our youth development groups. Please contact the TPDSC to discuss availability.
  • Use prescribed parts of the facility at a reduced fee, when not needed by our
    youth development groups. Please contact the TPDSC to discuss availability.
  • Attend subsidised professional development presentations.

Associate Member: Open to adults who have an interest in youth development. An annual fee of $100.00 (July 01 2018 to June 30 2019) is payable in advance and this enables you to:

  • Participate in programmed training, for example: Australia Sailing Learn to sail and Powerboat, W.A. Recreational Skippers Ticket, basic outboard and small diesel courses.
  • Attend professional development presentations.

Junior Member: Open to youths 16 -18 (July 01 2018 to June 30 2019) and who have an interest in youth development. An annual fee of $80.00 is payable in advance and this enables you to:

  • Participate in programmed training, for example: Australia Sailing Learn to sail and Powerboat, W.A. Recreational Skippers Ticket, basic outboard and small diesel courses.

Casual Member: Open to persons on a short-term basis, who are attending a training course at the TPDSC. This membership is comprised of the course fee plus the standard SWWBAC Inc, administration fee (2018 – $20.00) which is payable in advance and this enables you to:

  • Course that may be offered include: Australian Sailing Learn to sail and Powerboat, W.A. Recreational Skippers Ticket.
  • Basic outboard and small diesel courses.
  • First Aid courses.
